Hi, does anyone believe that wolves are shy animals? that is what I heard. Also they don't like the water. My guide dog is like that doesn't like water. I just wonderded what other people thought about wolves.

Wolves are wonderful Creatures of The Wild Places, places mainly of Wilderness places though on rare occasion they are found to be navigating in less rural areas...

wolves are by far my favorite wild animal. I think they are amazingly beautyful animals. They can be shy but they are also bery social. They comunicate constantly with the members of there pack and with other wolves and animals. I'm not sure how they are with humans but i would think they try to keep there distance from us just as we should do with them. If i find out anything else about them I'll be sure to post it here.

Wolves have learned to be shy through years of persecution by humans, this has lead to various ridiculous rumours about them being untrustworthy dangerous and sly, wolf will only attack humans if suffering from rabies. There are a group of nutters in Scotland who plan to release captive semi wild wolves into the highlands of my country, regardless of the laws on large wild carnivores. Personally, to stand on top of a mountain, listening to wolves howling, is my idea of paradise.

Wolves are gorgeous, majestic animals. It's terrible that humans have hunted and villified them. Have any of you guys ever read the Julie of the Wolves series by Jean Craighead George? I know that question might be better suited for the book forum, but I think those books really capture the wonderful animals that wolves are.

Greetings Chocolate Girl,

I was also enabled to find another web place that is kinda neat at: http://users.ap.net/~chenae/wolfhome.html Information, history, poetry, and links. Looks at the relationships between wolves and Indians and wolves and women and I must admit it is so large a web that I have only just begun to explore it...

...also this web place at: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/wolves/ To find out how wolves are making a comeback and discover the ancient connection between dogs and wolves... Again I have only just begun to explore this web place.

Also a note to SisterDawn,

I like it that you have encluded a Book Title here instead of under Book Forum as it makes this Board a more say, "Total Learning Board regarding Wolves," and can be refered to time and again. Good Job!

There's a series of three books, all involving an Eskimo girl and the wolf pack she basically becoms a part of. The first book is Julie of the Wolves, second book is just titled Julie, and the third is called Julie's Wolf pack. They're all good, and they all have a ton of information about wolves. The third one is most interesting, because the author writes from the wolves point of view. Most authors couldn't pull that off, but this one did.

The books I mentioned can be downloaded off Web-Braille if you use that, or checked out on tape from NLS. If you like wolves, you should check these out.
